Yes, in theory. vicodine, hydromorphone and so on are synthetics of morphine. if you take any of these on a regular basis and depending on what panel urine test they give, you will not show positive for codeine, because your body has had time to metabolize the meds and break them down, but if you or new to these meds and can prove it, i dont mean 2-3 days new it has to be subjected to the body and tested within a short amount of time or if given in an iv for pain and they test you, your body has not had time to metabolize and break down each individiual medication, therefore could show positive for codeine. even if no codeine was administered. hope this helps. some will argue, but in my profession ive seen it many times. its a gray area, and no lab testing facility wants to admit that they find certain medications, but do not have a clue how they may have tested positive. in their defense, i will say that if someone comes up + for thc, and say “oh it was secondhand smoke at a party” well thats a given.
